Another crane death reported in US
Britain News.Net Thursday 24th July, 2008
Another industrial crane has collapsed in the US, crushing a car and killing an 80-year-old man who was in his vehicle.
The man was watching the crane as it lifted a steeple onto a newly built church.
The man's wife, 78, who was also in the car, was transported to a hospital.
The operator of the crane was not injured.
The accident occurred in the parking lot of a new church being built in southwest Oklahoma City.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the State Labour Department are investigating the collapse.
There have been several deadly crane accidents around the US this year, including one in Houston last week that killed four contract workers and injured seven others.
Crane-related deaths have also occurred in New York, Miami and Las Vegas.
