Brit driver gets £40 ticket for pulling up at bus stop!
Britain News.Net Tuesday 19th August, 2008 (ANI)
London, Aug 19 : British driver Paul Sharples was given a 40 pounds ticket by a traffic warden for parking his bus at a bus stop.
The incident occurred as 35-year-old Sharples parked his double-decker in the bay for 30 seconds while he waited for his own stand to become free at Burnley, Lancs.
"I'm not paying. I wasn't in the way," the Sun quoted him as saying.
"All it says is, 'No parking, except for buses.' I drive a bus!" he added.
But Burnley Council said that the bay was for school buses and coaches.
"There are waiting areas in the bus station which other drivers can use," a spokesman said.
"If a school bus comes along and the stand is full, the driver has to double park. That means children get off in the middle of the street, which is dangerous," he added.
