Toyota reveals reason for Prius brake fault
Britain News.Net Friday 5th February, 2010
Troubled carmaker Toyota has announced the problem attributed to brakes on its Prius model has now been fixed.
The company said the brakes had been showing faults due to a software problem in the car’s computer.
The clash is between the anti-lock brake system and regenerative braking.
Toyota management has now said it may not be necessary to issue recalls on the car.
The clash apparently occurred in icy and frozen conditions, but has not been regarded as a legal safety hazard as another braking system in the vehicle is able to take over.
Management has said it will look at ways of having the cars attended to without the mass recalls which have had specific warnings attached. Email this story to a friend
