DHAKA -- Japan on Monday signed loan agreements totaling 2.67 billion U.S. dollars to support Bangladesh's budget and two projects including a coal-fired power plant.

Fatima Yasmin, secretary of Bangladesh's Economic Relations Division (ERD), Ito Naoki, Japanese ambassador to Bangladesh, and Yuho Hayakawa, chief representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency in Bangladesh, signed the agreements on behalf of their respective sides, said a Finance Division press release. LONDON -- British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Monday that green industrial revolution will create high-wage and high-skill jobs across the country as part of the government's mission to level up the country.

"We are on the brink of another revolution, a green industrial revolution. Again there are many ways in which we have first-mover advantage," he said at the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) annual conference. (UK-Green growth-PM)

NOVI SAD, Serbia -- Construction began on a new section of the Belgrade-Budapest railway in Serbia at a ceremony on Monday. Attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto, and Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Chen Bo, the ceremony took place in Novi Sad, Serbia.

Works on the 108-kilometer-section of the high-speed railway which runs from Novi Sad to the Kelebija border crossing in North Serbia, were launched with a push of a button by Vucic, Szijjarto, Chen Bo, and a representative of the Chinese consortium. This section of railway will include underpasses, overpasses and other infrastructure. (Serbia-China)
